Eighth night of season 10 of the Dana White's Contender Series, overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas: four fights and four UFC contracts. The card opener, Ilias Bulaid vs. Erick Visconde, is postponed.
Who won the DWCS 94 main event?
George Staines wins by KO/TKO in the first round (1:01) against Loai Abushaar, at lightweight.
The Englishman lifts his opponent from a body lock, arm trapped, and slams him onto the mat: Abushaar is knocked out, a few strikes follow before the referee steps in. It is the first slam knockout in Contender Series history. Staines improves to 9-0 and earns his contract; he trains in Liverpool alongside Paddy Pimblett.
What about the rest of the card?
Adama Diop beats Zaurbek Sabanov by KO/TKO (punches) in the second round (2:13), at heavyweight. The Senegalese EFC champion signs despite a fight Dana White judged poor.
Ian Escuza beats Luca Borando by KO/TKO (knees) after 32 seconds, at featherweight. The Peruvian moves to 8-0, eight finishes, all in the first round. A knee landed before the stoppage while Borando had a knee on the mat, and Dana White first opposed signing him; Sean Shelby argued his case, and the contract came.
Aieza Bertolso beats Camila Reynoso by submission (inverted D'Arce choke) in the first round (3:02), at strawweight. The Brazilian LFA champion, unbeaten in twenty-one fights, turns the season's first strawweight bout into a showcase and signs as well.
Ilias Bulaid vs. Erick Visconde, at featherweight, was pulled from the card about an hour before the show, Bulaid being ill. The fight is rescheduled for Week 10, on October 13.
