Why is the flyweight title vacant?
Because its holder cannot defend it. Shevchenko, 38, was due to put her belt on the line against Silva in Salt Lake City; an injury will keep her out for up to a year, and she gave up the title in early September. She plans to win it back as soon as she returns.
The UFC kept Silva and found her another opponent. It is the first time since UFC 289 and Amanda Nunes's defence against Irene Aldana, in 2023, that a women's fight headlines a numbered event.
Who are Natalia Silva and Wang Cong?
Natalia Silva (20-5-1) has never lost in the UFC: eight wins since arriving in 2022, the last three against former champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso and Rose Namajunas, all on points. The 29-year-old Brazilian is the bookmakers' favourite.
Wang Cong (10-1) joined the UFC in 2024. Her only defeat, a knockout against Gabriella Fernandes, has been followed by four straight wins, all on points, the latest against Tracy Cortez. The Chinese fighter is the most accurate striker in the division's history.
Neither has ever fought five rounds, or headlined a UFC card.
What else is worth watching?
The co-main event at bantamweight pits former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, with only one win in his last five fights, against Payton Talbott, who beat Henry Cejudo in December. The main card also features King Green - Esteban Ribovics at lightweight, Roberto Soldic - Khaos Williams at welterweight, the UFC debut of the Croatian, a KSW champion in two divisions, and Ateba Gautier - Roman Kopylov at middleweight, where the 24-year-old Cameroonian puts a ten-fight winning streak on the line.
The prelims carry three stories: Johnny Walker moves up to heavyweight against Mick Parkin, Rafael dos Anjos, 41, returns after almost two years away for the fiftieth fight of his career, against Alexander Hernandez, and Utah native Court McGee fights the last bout of his career at home, against Eric Nolan. Marvin Vettori, a former middleweight title challenger, tries to end a four-fight losing streak against Ismail Naurdiev.
Where to watch UFC 332 in France?
On RMC Sport, the UFC's exclusive broadcaster in France. The early prelims start at 10 p.m. on Saturday, the prelims at midnight and the main card at 2 a.m. on Saturday night, Paris time.
