DWCS 92: Hugo Guillon, one fight away from the UFC

Sixth night of season 10 of the Dana White's Contender Series tonight at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas: five fights, and as many UFC contracts to be won. A Frenchman is on the card, Hugo Guillon, sparring partner to Dricus Du Plessis and the first man from Grenoble to fight at ARES.

Did Hugo Guillon earn his UFC contract?

No. Luis Hernandez submits the Frenchman with a rear-naked choke in the second round (1:01), after a first round that went both ways. The Miami middleweight moves to 8-0 and leaves with the contract; Guillon takes the second defeat of his career (7-2) and goes home with nothing.

Who won the DWCS 92 main event?

Mayton Perea knocks Zevan Hunt out in the first round (0:45). The Ecuadorian lands his fourth straight win by KO or TKO; Hunt loses for the first time in eight fights.

The other two finishes come just as fast: Igor Cavalcanti stops Oscar Ravello in the first round (1:38) and makes his second trip to the Meta Apex count, two years after his loss to Seokhyeon Ko; Akbar Abdullaev knocks Ednilson Santos out with an overhand right in 19 seconds, a fourteenth finish in fourteen fights. Tyshawn Williams beats Antonio Monteiro by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27).

Four of the five winners sign with the UFC — Perea, Cavalcanti, Abdullaev and Hernandez. Williams, the only man to go the full three rounds, leaves without a contract but with a second chance promised before the end of the season.

Who is Hugo Guillon?

Hugo Guillon (7-1) faces Luis Hernandez (7-0) at middleweight.

The Frenchman, 6-foot-4 and nicknamed "The White Walker", comes out of Grenoble and Team Mhiyaoui on a six-fight winning streak. The most talked-about of them is the head kick that stopped Vlad Gutu at ARES 30 in May 2025; the latest is a first-round knockout of Kamil Smetoch last November. Four wins by KO/TKO and two by submission, with only one fight ever going to the cards.

His path was a local one before it was American. Ten years of judo at Vaucanson high school, then six years of amateur and professional MMA, camps in Sweden, Thailand and the United States, and in 2023 the founding, with his brother Mathis and Rochdi Sassi, of Mixed Martial Alpes, the first all-MMA club in Grenoble. That same year he became the first Grenoble fighter to compete at the ARES Fighting Championship.

He is also one of the few men to have sparred with both men of the same title fight: Khamzat Chimaev first, then Dricus Du Plessis ahead of their meeting. Across from him, Hernandez has yet to lose in seven fights.

The Ecuadorian, nicknamed "The Lion", comes in on three straight wins, all by KO or TKO. Across from him, the Oklahoman has yet to lose: six finishes and one decision in seven fights.

What about the rest of the card?

Igor Cavalcanti (13-2) - Oscar Ravello (13-3-1), at middleweight, brings the Brazilian from Rio Grande do Sul, nicknamed "Jacare", back to the Meta Apex after a first attempt that fell short: in September 2024, on season 8, he lost a unanimous decision to Seokhyeon Ko. All thirteen of his wins are finishes. Peru's Ravello comes in on two straight wins.

Akbar Abdullaev (13-0) - Ednilson Santos (14-7-1), at lightweight, is the fight that got people talking. The 28-year-old from Kyrgyzstan has never lost and has never seen the judges' scorecards: twelve knockouts, one submission, thirteen fights. Signed by ONE Championship in 2023, he knocked out Ho Taek Oh in 44 seconds on debut, Aaron Canarte in 41, and beat featherweight champion Tang Kai in a non-title bout. His announced opponent, Anthony Figueroa, withdrew; Brazil's Santos replaces him on a week's notice.

Tyshawn Williams (8-0) - Antonio Monteiro (18-5-1), at featherweight, puts an unbeaten fighter from Baltimore against the Brazilian nicknamed "Junior Negao", back on the Contender Series after a loss in 2024.
